HELPFUL HINTS:
CLOTHING SUGGESTIONS
The dress code aboard ship and ashore is informal or casual. Since warm temperatures are anticipated during summer months, loose-fitting clothing is more comfortable and appropriate. You may want to include shorts for daytime wear. During spring and fall cruises, layered clothing including a sweater and windbreaker for morning and late-afternoon walks on deck and while on shore excursions are recommended. Walking shoes are a must. Dinner attire aboard ship is informal. Men’s clothing might include sport shirt and slacks, sport coat or sweater. Women will find resort wear (dresses, sweaters, slacks and pant suits) most appropriate. Formal attire is not necessary. During the Captain’s Welcome Aboard Dinner the first night of your cruise, dress is casual and only for the Captain’s Farewell Dinner do some gentlemen wear a suit or sport coat and tie (optional); and ladies wear a cocktail dress or dressy pantsuit.
PETS
Not pets or animals are permitted aboard the vessel except service animals where previous arrangements have been made.
ONBOARD PAYMENT
A “no cash” policy is used onboard all ships in the Majestic America Line fleet. You will be asked to sign for all incidental purchases and services provided, such as gift shop, liquor, wine and mini-bar. At the end of your cruise, you will receive an itemized bill which you may settle at the purser’s office. You may use cash, Travelers Check, Visa, MasterCard or Discover.
SMOKING POLICY
Smoking is limited to outer deck (outside) areas only. Smoking is not permitted in the interior lounges, dining room and passenger staterooms. Smokers may want to consider a stateroom with a verandah in order to smoke just outside your stateroom on your own private deck.
MEDICAL CARE / LAUNDRY/ DRY CLEANING / BEAUTY AND BARBER SHOP
These services are not available onboard the vessel. As the ship makes virtually daily calls to port where such are provided, the ships personnel can direct guests to any needed facilities.
TELEPHONE SERVICE
It is possible to make calls from telephones located ashore on a daily basis. Ship to shore calls may be made from your stateroom aboard the Empress of the North. Emergency communications are also available utilizing the vessel’s administrative cellular phone. Passengers can also be contacted onboard in case of emergencies.
ELECTRICAL CURRENT
Staterooms are equipped with 110-volt, 60 cycle alternating current (AC) with standard U.S. plug fittings. Electric razors and toothbrushes, hairdryers and other small electrical appliances may be operated from stateroom/bathroom outlets.
